![]() DIVING ANACAPAWater temps range from the low 50's in the winter to the high 60's and low 70's in the summer. Normally, visibility ranges from 40 to 100 feet, depending on which side of the Island you are on. On the day we went diving, visibility was only about 30 feet. Anacapa Island has been eroded so much by the ocean that it is now really three islands. Each section is thin and features high, rocky cliffs, sea caves, and rocky tidepools. Off the coast of the island, nicknamed the "goldfish bowl", there are many varieties of fish including kelp bass, sheephead and garibaldi. Also, we saw a large amount of sea lions, seals, and horn sharks. In addition to those, there are moray eels, octopi, lobsters, and bat rays. Sometimes, there will be an occasional giant black sea bass, blacksmith perch, sardines, mackerel, anchovies, and other small schooling fish. It might take time for the photos to download, please be patient.
